Dannen Family

There are so many things I want to say about the Dannen family, but I just can’t find the right words. Every time I sit down to write, I don’t even know where to begin. So I will take that as a sign to keep it simple and let the images speak for themselves. Briana, Brian and little Finleigh welcomed sweet Harper into the world on March 10th and she could not be any more precious. Every time she looked at me with her big bright eyes I could see wisdom and calmness in her which made feel as though SHE is the nurturer of the family. She radiates peacefulness. The entire family radiates calm and love. Even in the midst of kicking breast cancer in the butt, the Dannens possess an enormous amount of love, strength and honesty. They also possess the normalcy of raising a toddler and a newborn. Their oldest daughter Finleigh is a typical playful toddleralways ready to move on to the next exciting thing. It’s hard having a toddler and newborn to tend tolet alone doing it while battling breast cancer—but they all take it in stride. Brian is always at the ready to scoop up one of the girls and tend to whatever needs tending to. The love he has for all three of his girls is incredibly sweet.

During the photo shoot I was nervous that I would say or ask something that wasn’t appropriate, but Briana was more than happy to tell me about her cancer and share her story with me. Talking with Briana and Brian during the shoot and reading Briana’s journal entries both wake me up from my daily coma and help re-calibrate my approach to life, reminding me of what to hold on to and what to let go of. I’m reminded to let go of the negative situations in my life and reserve time and energy for the truly important things like my husband and children.

I encourage everyone to take a look at Briana’s thoughts on what she is going through. You will be amazed by her honesty, resilience and positivity. I am also posting a link to a site where you can donate to the Dannen family fund to help ease the financial burden they are faced with from battling breast cancer. Thank you Dannen family for welcoming me into your family and sharing a Saturday afternoon with me. You are an inspiring family.
