When a friend of mine approached me about taking photos for an auction to raise money for Briana Dannen there was no hesitation. I was incredibly honored to be a part of this event. I only wish I could do more than just take photos for Briana. Her story is one that left me speechless. I can’t even begin to process what she and her family are battling. Last October, at the age of 32 and 16 weeks pregnant with their second child Briana was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am amazed at her strength and resilience. Right away she started fighting. Being pregnant and going to prenatal checkups can already be overwhelming, but to add on oncology appointments, tests, and cancer treatment … that takes an incredibly strong woman with an incredibly strong support network. At the auction I saw firsthand the strength of Briana and those that support her. The auction was less than a week after Briana gave birth yet there she was with a huge smile, surrounded by an amazing community of people. I have never been to a silent auction with such a large number of people showing up and bidding. Not only that, but the quantity of items that were donated to be auctioned off was incredible! Briana is rocking her battle and her loved ones and community are right there with her.
Last weekend I did a photo shoot with Briana, her husband Brian, and their two daughters. That preview will be up soon. In the meantime, here are some photos from the auction and a link to Briana’s CaringBridge page. You can read the updates she writes as well as make a donation to help her in this battle with breast cancer.
